Throwback: 2018 Rolex Motorsports Reunion
One of my favorite road trips in Blaster Z was when I went to the Rolex Motorsports Reunion at Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, CA For those not familiar with the Rolex Motorsports reunion imagine a full weekend event in which vintage race cars from as early as the 1930's and as late as the 1990's compete in races on the iconic Laguna Seca Raceway. A special aspect of the 2018 Motorsports Reunion was that Nissan was the Marque brand for the event. As the Marque brand Nissan made the event very special by sending several cars from their Nissan Heritage Museum such as the R390 production car and several historic Datsuns. In addition the car club Z owners of Northern California hosted a Z car gathering in the paddock inside turn three. Z32 drivers from all over the state of California were in attendance with their cars and some Datsun drivers drove from as far away as British Columbia to attend the event. On the final day of the event all Z car drivers in attendance were able to make a parade lap around Laguna Seca. The round-trip drive for me to attend this event from San Diego/ Monterey was a little over 1000 miles. Blaster Z performed well as a grand tourer as I drove through Los Angeles, Grapevine hill, Salinas, Big Sur, and many other scenic areas of Southern and Central California.
